【摘要】:Thistestmethoddeterminestheliquidsorptionofbibulouspaper,paperboard,andpaperproductsusinggravimetricprinciples.TheprocedureinthistestmethoddescribestestingofabsorbentmaterialssuchasthoseinSimilartestingmaybedoneoncompositeabsorbentproducts,incorporatingcelluloseandnonwovenfabrics,polymerfilms,orothersimilarmaterialsforusesuchasabsorbentpads,wipes,andsoonwithslightmodification.Thistestmethoddoesnotdescribetheapplicationofthistechniquetotextiles.Thestandardtestliquidisdistilledwater.Othertestliquidsofinterestmaybeusedifdesired,providedtheyarecompatiblewiththeliquiddeliverysystemspecified.Examplesofsuchtestliquidsinclude,butarenotlimitedto,bufferedsolutionsofdistilledwater,fruitorvegetablejuices,milk,syntheticbodyliquidssuchasurine,andorganicfluidssuchassaladoil,cookingoil,motoroil,andothers.Thetestliquidisdeliveredataneffectivenegativeheadpressureafterinitiatingliquidflow(wicking).Thisallowsthecontrollingsorptivepropertiestobedemandwettability,theabilityofthespecimentoabsorbthroughcapillarityandsurfacewetting.Usingtheequipmentandprinciplesdescribed,absorptionatotherinstrumentconfigurationsandheadpressures,aswellasdesorptionmaybemeasured.Thistestmethodmeasuresboththerateandcapacityofliquidsorptionthroughdemandwettabilityorwicking.Liquidcapacityisdefinedasthepointintheanalysiswherethesorptionratefallsbelow3.0mgin5s.Agreedintermediatepointsaremeasuredduringtheanalysistodeterminerate.Ananalogordigitalreportofthesorptivebehaviorofthetestspecimenmaybeproduced,ifdesired,tofurthercharacterizeitssorptivebehavior.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
