【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsaredescribedinordertostandardizeproceduresfordeterminingthetensilestrengthofnonmetallicgasketmaterials.Themeasurementofthispropertycharacterizesvariousclassesandgradesofmaterialsofagiventypeandinsodoing,itwillgivethemanufacturerameasurementofthequalityofhisproduct.Italsowillaidthepurchaserofthegasketingmaterialstobeabletodeterminewhetherthegasketmaterialthathehasapprovedforagivenapplicationisbeingmanufacturedinacceptablequality.Themeasurementofthispropertyshouldnotbemisconstruedastogivethepurchaserofthegasketmaterialanindicationoftheperformanceofthatmaterialinapplication.Thepropertymaybeusefulinestablishingmaterialspecifications.Variousproceduresaregivenforthedifferenttypesofmaterials,andinordertocomparetheresultsfromonelaboratorytoanother,itisimperativethattheapplicableprocedurebeselected.Varioustypesoftension-testingapparatusareallowedtobeused.Thesetypesofequipmentcanproducedifferentindicatedresults.Laboratorieshavingdifferentequipmentmayhavetoestablishcorrelationsbetweeneachother;otherwise,misinterpretationofthetestdatacouldresult.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationoftensilestrengthofcertainnonmetallicgasketingmaterialsatroomtemperature.Thetypesofmaterialscoveredarethosecontainingasbestosandotherinorganicfibers(Type1),cork(Type2),celluloseorotherorganicfiber(Type3),andflexiblegraphite(Type5)asdescribedinClassificationF104.Thesetestmethodsarenotapplicabletothetestingofvulcanizedrubber,amethodforwhichisdescribedinTestMethodsD412norforrubberO-rings,amethodforwhichisdescribedinTestMethodsD1414.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
